Relationship Between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum Takes an Interesting Turn

So, are they semi-opponents now?

The relationship dynamics between Philadelphia 76ers’ guard Jaylen Brown and Boston Celtics’ forward Jayson Tatum, who were once teammates, added a new twist during Saturday night’s game.

And, well, it’s quite a development.

After the 76ers’ 127-116 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, Brown mentioned that there’s “no beef” between them, but hinted at something like “a little lamb chops and some gravy.”

“He should stay ready at all times,” Brown added.

This win improved the Sixers’ record to 3-0, and for Brown, it marked his finest performance of the season with a personal best of 27 points.

Brown and Tatum played together on the Celtics for nine years. Both were picked as the No. 3 overall selections by the franchise—Brown in 2016 and Tatum the following year. Together, they became a formidable duo, clinching an NBA championship in 2024 and making multiple Finals and Eastern Conference finals appearances.

I have to say, I find the early swagger of the 76ers pretty appealing, and I appreciate Brown embracing a kind of villainous persona in a city known for its disdain of green and white.

Brown—along with LeBron James—really seems to be going all in. I mean, I’m totally here for it.

The NBA has long been missing that genuine, unfiltered tension. Nowadays, players seem too chummy, exchanging jerseys with smiles just moments after playoff exits. The league hasn’t seen real competitive spirit in years.

Brown deserves credit, regardless of personal feelings about him. He’s revitalizing that edge with his words, especially in this new era of basketball.

It’s a breath of fresh air.

So let’s not wish for them to “hash it out” over coffee. Let the tension simmer. Allow the rivalry to develop. Because when the Sixers and Celtics finally meet on the court, it won’t merely be another game—it’ll be pure theatre, folks.
