Morning Joy and Game Highlights
After a rainy Monday, Tuesday greeted us with sunshine, cheerful birds, and the delightful sight of Mrs. Screencaps’ flowers in full bloom. Oh, and my 14U baseball team, which had only three players aged 14, scored a narrow 6-5 victory—life feels pretty good right now.
But before diving into that recap, let’s shift our focus to Detroit where Jazz Chisholm caught everyone’s attention during last night’s game. He was seen chewing on a blow pop in the fifth inning, and honestly, it seems he just wanted the spotlight. It’s kind of amusing, isn’t it?
Can you imagine what George Steinbrenner would think of this? Back in the day, the Yankees had strict rules against facial hair. Maybe times have changed so much that blow pops are nothing now—perhaps a sign of how laid-back the team has become?
Does Aaron Boone even have the authority to stop players from munching on blow pops while playing? I wonder if the Yankees have someone who can tell Chisholm to put that candy away. Or should the MLB perhaps consider a no-blow pop rule for player safety?
Is singing “Sweet Caroline” during games the worst idea ever?
I can’t help but think it’d be entertaining to see a player stash a hot dog in his pocket, casually stroll to the right field seats, and munch on it during a game pause. Now that would be something!

14U Team Update: Back-to-Back Wins
Remember those challenging weeks in early May and June? I struggled to motivate the boys and it felt like I was hitting a wall. But suddenly, last week, everything changed. The kids started communicating, and for the first time, I saw them working as a cohesive unit.
The results were clear. They pulled off two back-to-back wins, including a thrilling 6-5 match last night. The highlight? A game-winning triple in the fifth inning, with my usually slow catcher scoring the decisive run.
He later had to pitch the top of the sixth—in a bit of a pinch since we were short on pitchers. He’s not really a pitcher, just a player who throws. But just like the rest of the team, he’s stepping up. I’m starting to pull back on coaching, letting them take the reins.
Luke pitched flawlessly in that sixth inning, and as we all headed home, the joy on the boys’ faces said it all—they earned that win.
Fast Food Fundraising Concerns
It seems more Americans are growing skeptical about those requests for charity donations at fast-food restaurants. Honestly, every time someone asks for spare change, I can’t help but wonder if I’m being scammed. I saw a Reddit post suggesting that fast food chains are actually competing for charity prominence. I’m curious about the proof of such claims.
Remember Kyle Farnsworth? Of course, anyone who follows sports does. He just turned 50, by the way.
As for today, I need to step outside for a bit—to refresh my mind and breathe some fresh air. I have a few busy days ahead before I can truly relax. It’s definitely not a time for skiing!
