Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance announced Thursday that he has accepted an invitation to debate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Oct. 1.
“The American people have a right to participate in as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has already challenged Kamala to three debates,” Vance said. I wrote about it in a post on X. “I will be participating in the CBS debate on October 1st as well as the CNN debate on September 18th. I look forward to seeing you at both!”
Waltz, who is Vice President Harris’ running mate for the Democratic presidential nomination, I said this yesterday at X “See you on October 1st, JD.”
CBS News said in an earlier statement that both candidates have been invited to debate in New York City, with October 1 being one possible date.

The network said it “looks forward to their responses and will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from the vice presidential nominee.”
Vance said on “X” that he plans to debate Walz on CNN on September 18, but it is not immediately clear whether Walz will be in attendance that day.

CNN quoted a spokesperson as saying the network had “extended an invitation to both Senator Vance and Governor Walz to participate in the vice presidential debate this fall, and Senator Vance has accepted.”
