Vance Addresses Federal Power at Turning Point USA Event

During a recent event at the University of Mississippi, Vice President J.D. Vance spoke to the Turning Point USA audience, emphasizing that Republicans should not shy away from using federal power. He contended that the left has already exploited federal authority to their advantage in previous years.

When asked about the potential for “abusing power” if Republicans aggressively utilized the federal government, Vance replied, “We can’t be afraid to do something just because the left might do it in the future. They’re already trying; that’s evident from the last 40 years.” His tone suggested that the urgency of the matter outweighs the fear of retaliation.

He then delivered a pointed remark regarding how the past few years have seen many criminal cases against former President Donald Trump. Vance, in a somewhat sarcastic manner, posed the question, “What if Joe Biden had used the Federal Bureau of Investigation to arrest his political rivals?”

Vance noted that the Trump administration has deployed the National Guard in various locations, including Washington, D.C., and plans to send troops to assist with immigration enforcement across multiple states.

“If Joe Biden decided to send the National Guard to areas with high crime rates, that could be a constructive move,” Vance remarked. However, he expressed skepticism about Biden’s willingness to do so effectively. “What concerns me is the damage the far left has inflicted on American law enforcement, and we need to put a stop to it,” he added.

He also highlighted the importance of holding individuals accountable to deter any misuse of federal power. “The key is to ensure that those who wield it against the American people face consequences,” Vance stated. “That’s precisely what we’re striving to achieve.”
