Former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance addressed critics who took his comments out of context, telling Megyn Kelly that Republicans “need to be honest about the issues” with positioning Democrats as the “anti-family, anti-children” party.
Vance spoke with Kelly on the topic, saying that, more broadly, Democrats are the party of anti-children and anti-family, and Republicans shouldn’t budge on those points.
“I know the media is attacking me and wanting me to back down on Meghan, but what I’m saying is that having a child, becoming a father, becoming a mother really does change your perspective in a pretty fundamental way,” he said, making it clear that this is something that has been recognized for hundreds of years throughout human civilization.
“This is not a criticism of people who don’t have children. Despite the media’s lies about this, I made it clear in my remarks that this is not a criticism of people who don’t have children for a variety of reasons. This is a criticism of the Democratic Party for becoming anti-family and anti-children,” Vance said, adding, “Meghan, we have to ask ourselves why we are still making young children wear masks years after the pandemic is over.”
“Meghan, why is the Harris team saying this morning that there shouldn’t be a child tax credit to lower tax rates for parents with young children?” he asked, concluding, “It’s because they’ve become anti-family and anti-children.”
“I’m proud to stand up for parents and I hope parents out there recognize that I’m a guy that wants to fight for you. I want to fight for your interests. I want to fight for your interests in the country. And this is fundamentally what it’s about,” Vance said.
“The Democratic Party has become very anti-family over the last five, 10 years, Meghan,” he said, explaining that this fact is “built into their platform.”
“It’s ingrained in us when we talk about parents and children, and it’s time for us to call it out,” Vance said. “Megyn, I don’t think we should shy away from it. We need to be honest about this issue.”

The mainstream media and Hollywood elites were gleeful to expose comments Vance made three years ago in which he suggested the country was primarily run by “childless cat ladies” and other Democratic Party bases.
“This country is effectively run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs and childfree, cat-loving women,” she said in a July 2021 interview on Fox News’ hit show. Tucker Carlson TonightVance made the larger point that the country has been turned over to people with no real vested interest in the games, adding that these people “are miserable about their lives and the choices they’ve made, and therefore they want to make the rest of the country miserable as well.”

Anti-Trump commentator Ron Filipovsky shared excerpts of the video out of context on his X account, attempting to paint Vance as a cold-hearted politician who doesn’t care about the plight of women who can’t have children for a variety of reasons.Carolyn Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, shared another video of Vance responding to those warnings while making similar statements the same year, exposing the caricature of Vance that the left has been trying to create.
“Look, there are a lot of people who can’t have children for very complicated and significant reasons. Some of my best friends have had a hard time finding a girl or the right man, and of course there are people who can’t have children for biological or medical reasons,” Vance said.
“It’s important to point out that this comment is not aimed at them. There have always been people who want children but can’t have them. Let’s put them aside,” he clarified.
As a new mom, my heart aches for all the women who can’t have children. translator Words are being taken out of context and unfairly attacked.
