Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) launched a blistering attack on Vice President Kamala Harris while campaigning in North Carolina on Wednesday, claiming that she is completely incapable of being a true leader.
“Kamala Harris has not earned a single Democratic vote,” Vance said, discussing how Democratic Party elites ignored the will of 14 million Democratic primary voters and selected Harris as their first choice.
“Democrats think they’ve figured out how to appeal to everyday Americans,” he said, mocking Democrats who handed out camouflage hats with Harris’ name on them at the Democratic National Convention.
“The camo hats with Kamala Harris’ name on them are a strategy to appeal to rural voters and veterans. I think the best way to appeal to rural voters and veterans is to have Kamala not have a running mate who lies about her military history. Why not try that?” he asked, continuing to talk about Harris’s failures, noting that she has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country without receiving a single legitimate vote.
“That’s Kamala Harris’ record. Let’s not forget, the party leaders put Kamala Harris in office because they can control her. That’s what it’s all about. Her policies are not for the American people. They’re for the people who have gotten rich off the decline of this country. And we’re not going to accept that, are we?” Vance asked.
“When we moved millions of manufacturing jobs to China and other countries, Kamala Harris’ donors got rich. America got poorer. When America printed trillions of dollars to fund her environmental scam, her donors got rich. But America paid higher prices for groceries and housing because of it. And now her party wants more power, and the way to get it is she gives all illegal immigrants the right to vote. But here in North Carolina, we believe the only people who should be here should be able to vote, not illegal immigrants,” Vance said, arguing that the country does not need a leader “elected by the powers that be.”
“We need a president who is for the people, and that’s why we’re sending Donald J. Trump back to the White House,” he said.
He gave specific examples of how Harris’ leadership has collapsed. “Think about everything this country has gone through over the past four years under the collapse of Kamala Harris’ leadership,” he began. “Prices are rising and wages are falling. Our borders are wide open but many factories are closed. From North Carolina to Wisconsin, fentanyl is available on every street corner but it is now impossible for young Americans to find affordable housing to raise their families.”
“Donald J. Trump represents what so many people need right now in this country. I think it’s important to recognize that the United States of America needs hope — hope that we can reinvigorate our economy and bring prosperity back to the American people,” Vance said. “Hope that we can raise our children in safe neighborhoods and safe streets; hope that we can renew the patriotism that binds us as a country, that we are one nation under God,” he said, predicting that a return of Trump to power would bring peace around the world.
“Right now, if we don’t have safety for our families, if we don’t have safety for our country, we have nothing. And when we talk about national security, I firmly believe that national security starts right here in the great state of North Carolina,” he said. “And the biggest area where Kamala Harris has failed to deliver peace and national security is our southern border,” he continued, slamming Harris for allowing “literal invasion of our country, over 10 million illegal immigrants.”
“And she has refused to deport people who are already in the country, which means there are roughly 25 million illegal immigrants in this country right now,” he said, telling the audience that if Harris is promoted, “the southern border will look like Walmart on Black Friday.”
Vance pointed out several other missteps by Harris and explained that Trump could actually “engage in diplomacy to preserve the peace.”
“Every Democrat is lying about Donald Trump being the nuclear war candidate, but Donald Trump is the one who prevented nuclear war and if we’re not careful, Kamala Harris is going to lead us to nuclear war,” he said. “We should not get rid of her and elevate her to the presidency of the United States.” Vance also blasted Harris for bragging on CNN that she played a key role in the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

“Under Kamala Harris, Putin invaded Ukraine. But under Donald Trump, Putin did nothing,” Vance said. “That’s because of strong leadership. People respected him.”
