Political commentator Ana Navarro said on CNN’s “OutFront” on Friday that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee, has spoken about childfree people in a “hateful way.”
“The reason I want to talk about this J.D. Vance is because I’ve read his speeches and I know him. I’ve seen what he said. He uses hateful language when he talks about people without children. He makes it very clear that we should punish the bad, which is childlessness, and praise the good. That’s why he proposes things like giving people with kids more voting rights and giving people without kids more taxes,” Navarro said.
She continued, “Exactly. It’s not about cynicism. It’s not about the child tax credit. It’s about punishing people for not having children. My message to Mr. Vance is that we don’t live in a ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ world, where adults in this country are forced to have children.”
She added: “It’s a free choice, but for some of us it’s not even a free choice. For some of us it’s been tried and we couldn’t. The cruelty of that man is to say that because I can’t have children I should have less voting rights, pay more taxes and be ridiculed as a childless pussy woman. And then he’s going to tell me about family values, Christian values. You’re a disgrace. It’s offending everyone. It’s offending women all over the United States, because we also have the issue of abortion rights. We also have the issue of IVF, which is affected by US policy.” Dobbs “It’s a decision. So you just add it to the pot.”
