Vice President J.D. Vance to Visit Minnesota Amid Immigration Tensions

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Vice President J.D. Vance is set to travel to Minnesota on Thursday. This was confirmed by a reliable source as federal immigration enforcement issues continue to stir significant debate.

During his visit, Vance will address the public in Minneapolis and engage in a roundtable conversation with local leaders and residents, according to officials.

“The vice president aims to highlight the administration’s focus on restoring law and order in Minneapolis,” a White House spokesperson shared on Wednesday.

Additionally, Vance is expected to meet with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minnesota to reaffirm the White House’s steadfast backing for federal immigration authorities.

In his comments, the Vice President will point out how the sanctuary city policies in Minneapolis are affecting public safety and putting ICE officers at risk. He will commend the crucial role that ICE officers play in removing dangerous individuals from the streets, according to a White House official.

Vance’s trip follows Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s invitation for President Donald Trump to visit the state. Walz expressed in a statement that he hoped Trump would witness the collaborative spirit in Minnesota, emphasizing community unity over division and fear.

“Join me and our community in restoring peace and order; true public safety stems from shared purpose and mutual respect,” Walz added.

In a related matter, the state’s Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis’s Mayor Jacob Frey, and Governor Walz received subpoenas from the Justice Department for allegedly obstructing or conspiring against federal law enforcement during an ongoing ICE operation.

FBI Director Warns No Officials Will Be Exempt from Investigation

Minnesota has emerged as a key battleground in the national dialogue surrounding federal immigration actions, particularly following the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents on January 7 in Minneapolis.

“Many have heard that the officer wasn’t struck by a car, he wasn’t harassed, and he shot an innocent woman. The truth, however, is that he acted to defend himself,” Vance remarked in a post.

He also mentioned in another post that “chaotic ICE raids primarily occur in sanctuary cities, where local authorities clash with federal officials.”

In a White House press briefing earlier this month, Vance suggested that Good had been “brainwashed” and alleged she was connected to a larger left-wing network. The vice president had also visited Minnesota in September following a shooting incident at a Catholic church in the area.

Vance plans to return to his home state of Ohio early Thursday and is scheduled to speak at an industrial shipping facility in Toledo regarding government efforts to lower prices.
