Tony Hinchcliffe, the host of Netflix’s Kill Tony, described Vice President JD Vance as “bad” during a conversation with Bill Maher. This comment was triggered by Vance’s responses regarding a comedy skit that took place at President Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden last October.
During Sunday’s episode of the Club Random Podcast, Hinchcliffe inquired, “Did you meet JD Vance?” Maher responded, “No, I’ve never met JD.”
“I must say, all I really know about him is that he’s not good,” Hinchcliffe remarked. His comedic approach often involves dark humor and roast-style jokes.
Continuing, Hinchcliffe said, “JD Vance was fielding questions from the press, and I was watching closely. We sent them clips, and they were asking, ‘What do you think about the racist remarks made by the speakers?’ They were calling me every name except ‘comedian,’ as if that would make a difference.”
“They refused to call me a comedian, but I think that strategy really backfired,” Hinchcliffe noted.
Hinchcliffe described the rally as “very stressful.”
He elaborated, “JD Vance was being bombarded with press questions like, ‘What do you think about these racist comments?’ and he handled it daily, insisting, ‘First off, he’s a comedian. I don’t understand why you’re referring to him as a speaker. What happened to everyone’s sense of humor?’
Later in the discussion, Maher humorously suggested a joke for Hinchcliffe, saying, “We should imagine an island where only affluent white people go,” and joked about a place filled with trash, like the Bahamas or the Cayman Islands.
“When I attended the inauguration, let me tell you, everyone was giving high-fives,” Hinchcliffe remarked.
In another part of the conversation, Hinchcliffe discussed the notion of “acceptance” and an atmosphere of “let’s come together,” which he feels is increasingly being labeled as “slightly right.” He commented that what many term “racist” originates from a place where people have faced significant struggles.
