Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance revealed that an anonymous “someone very important” to him had previously undergone an abortion during a debate about politically sensitive issues during a vice presidential debate.
“I grew up in a working-class neighborhood where I knew many young women who had unplanned pregnancies and ended their pregnancies because they felt they had no other option. “I decided to do it,” Vance said.
“One of them is actually very important to me, and I know she's watching tonight. And I love you.”
Vance did not say who she was talking about, but added that she was in an “abusive relationship.” He also emphasized his position that abortion policy should be determined by each state, not the federal government.
“We have to do a much better job.” [winning] “The American people's trust on this issue is coming back, even though frankly the American people don't trust us,” Vance said of the Republican Party.
Mr. Vance later criticized Minnesota's abortion law, which Mr. Walz enacted, saying it allowed doctors to kill babies who were born alive in a botched abortion.

“I read the Minnesota law that you signed,” Vance told Walz. Late term abortion. ”
“It's fundamentally barbaric,” he declared. “Do you want to force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions against their will? Because Kamala Harris has supported suing Catholic nuns for violating their freedom of conscience.”
Mr. Walz protested that that was “not true.”
“These are decisions for women to make,” the governor added. “And the doctors who know best.”
“I asked you a question and you gave me a slogan,” Vance replied.
