Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for questioning her loyalty to the United States during an impassioned speech on Saturday.
The Ohio senator defended her background as a Marine Corps veteran and small business owner in response to a campaign ad released by Harris earlier this month that said her “loyalty is to Trump alone, not to country.”
“the other day, Kamala Harris “She questioned my loyalty to this country. The word she used is loyalty. It’s an interesting word. Always loyalty, because nothing shows more disloyalty to this country than what Kamala Harris has done on our southern border,” Vance ranted to the crowd in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
“I want to ask the vice president, has she done anything to cause any doubt about my loyalty to this country? I served in the Marines. I went to Iraq for this country. I built a business for this country. And my running mate took a bullet for this country,” he said.
“So my question to you, Kamala Harris: What have you done to cause you to doubt our loyalty to the United States of America?”
Vance then answered his own question, saying Harris had done “nothing.”
“So let’s send a message to the media. Let’s send a message to Kamala Harris. Let’s send a message from Minnesota to all hard-working patriots across the nation: We look forward to the return of President Donald J. Trump, and we will do everything in our power to make that happen,” he concluded.
The video Vance was referring to was Shared on YouTube on July 16th This comes a day after Trump announced he had picked the Ohio congressman as his running mate.
Harris, who had not announced her presidential candidacy at the time, called Vance “a scientist who has been a big influence in the U.S. for many years.” [Trump’s] “It’s an extreme agenda.”
“Make no mistake: J.D. Vance is loyal only to Trump, not to our country,” Harris warned, referring to Vance’s strict conservative policies.
Harris announced her endorsement after President Biden abandoned his reelection campaign but has yet to choose a running mate.
