Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s running mate, said during a television appearance that he would be open to debating whoever Vice President Kamala Harris chooses as her running mate. Breitbart News Saturday.
Host Matthew Boyle began the conversation by noting that Harris is expected to choose a running mate soon, with growing speculation that it could be Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. When asked for his overall thoughts on who that running mate would be, Vance said it made no difference to him.
“Matt, I don’t care who it is. Of course I think we should have a debate. I hope we can have a robust debate. I look forward to that,” he said, focusing on the fact that this issue rests with the top of the list of candidates, Vice President Kamala Harris, and that is where the biggest difference lies.
“At the end of the day, it’s the top of the candidates that matter, right? Kamala Harris has done terrible. And the good thing about our candidates is the top of the candidates, right? People like Donald Trump’s leadership. I think a lot of people want to go back to a time of peace and prosperity,” he said.
“And they don’t want someone like Kamala Harris, who wants to cut police budgets, ban fracking, open the southern border of the United States. So I think there’s a really good contrast at the top of the candidates. If you believe the polls, and I do, most people are making their decision based on who’s at the top of the candidates,” he said, acknowledging it was his role to make the case against Harris.
listen:
“My role is to make the case against Kamala Harris and remind people that President Trump was a good president who deserves a second term,” Vance said, also noting during the interview that Trump would win a debate against Harris.
“What we’ve learned about Kamala over the last four years, Matt, is that she’s incredibly bad without a script. You can put her in front of a teleprompter and tell her what to say, and she’s fine. But when she actually has to answer questions based solely on her own knowledge and interest in policy, she’s kind of awful,” he added, predicting it would be great for Trump.
