JD Vance says he was confronted by pro-Ukrainian protesters while walking with toddler daughter

Vice President JD Vance said on Saturday he faced pro-Ukrainian protesters while he was walking with his 3-year-old daughter.

“Today, while walking my 3-year-old daughter, a group of protesters from “Slabaukraine” chased around us, screaming as my daughter grew up increasingly uneasy and scared. ” Vance posted to X on Saturday afternoon.

“I decided to talk to the protesters in the hopes of exchanging conversations for a few minutes to leave the toddler alone,” he continued. “Nearly all of them agreed.”

Vance said it was “a almost a respectful conversation, but if you're chasing the three-year-old as part of a political protest, you're like a person.”

“Slaba Ukraine” is the cries of war for the Ukrainian army and means “glory to Ukraine.”

The Vice President did not designate that he spoke to the protesters, but the Trump administration last week cut off funds for Ukraine and stopped sharing intelligence news with the country after a tense oval office exchange between Ukrainian President Voldymee Zelensky, Donald Trump and Vance.

Fox News Digital reached the Vice President's office for comment.

Tensions rose during an oval office meeting on February 28th over a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine after Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin was unreliable and violated other agreements.

Trump and Vance then accused Zelensky of not appreciating the support the US has provided over the years, saying Ukrainian leaders were in a “bad position” at the negotiation table.

“You're playing cards,” Trump said. “You're living and gambling for millions of people. You're gambling with World War II. You're gambling with World War II. And what you're doing is very rude to this country, to this country.”

After Vance said there are personnel and military recruitment issues in Zelensky Ukraine, Zelensky said the war “everyone has problems, you, you, you, you, you, you, you,” adding that the US will feel war “in the future.”

“You shouldn't tell us what we're trying to feel,” Trump replied. “We're trying to solve the problem. Don't tell us what we're trying to feel.”

Zelensky was asked to leave the White House after the exchange. The scheduled press conference was cancelled and Ukraine left it signed as it fed the US rare earth minerals.

The White House says Zelensky must publicly apologise for not considering oval office meetings or mineral trade.

On Tuesday, Zelensky called the meeting “unfortunate” and said he was ready to pursue peace with Trump's help.

Vance met protesters last weekend when his family went on a ski holiday in Vermont the day after the February 28 exchange.

The protesters called him a “traitor” and told him to “go skiing in Russia.”

Liberal commentator Tim Miller criticized Vance on his X-Post on Saturday, saying, “As there are dozens of people dead in Ukraine, we stopped giving the intelligence to protect the country from bombs, so we could probably scream at the boss of a free country.”

On Friday, Trump wrote that he was considering “large” sanctions against Russia, the truth.

“Go to the table now before it's too late,” he wrote about Russia and Ukraine.
