Vance Urges Republicans to Stay Calm After Election Losses
Vice President J.D. Vance is advising Republicans not to lose their heads over recent Democratic wins in local and state elections.
From the outside, it might seem like the Democrats are back on solid ground. With New York City electing its first openly socialist mayor and California set to redistrict in a way that could amplify the Democrats’ electoral edge, things may appear bleak for Republicans. There’s even been a resignation regarding past controversial comments in Virginia’s law enforcement. Simply put, Democrats seemed to have claimed victory in nearly every contest they aimed to win on November 4th.
“Infighting is really stupid,” Vance remarked.
In response to these election results, Vance offered a rather sobering perspective to Republican supporters.
“I think it’s unwise to overreact to a few elections in very blue states, but, you know, consider it carefully,” he shared in a post on X.
Vance pointed out a main hurdle for Republicans: keen voter engagement. Local elections rarely draw high turnout, and that challenge grows steeper for Republicans. He highlighted the urgent need to energize their base and connect with voters ahead of future elections.
“Mr. Pressler, TPUSA, and several others have done important work registering voters. I mentioned this back in 2022, and it’s a recurring theme. Our coalition has low engagement, which means boosting voter turnout is more crucial now than ever,” Vance said.
Affordability emerged as a pivotal issue in the recent campaigns, with Vance underscoring that living costs are likely to dominate future elections. Republicans must keep this in focus, both while campaigning and once elected.
“We have to concentrate on our home turf,” he stated. “The president has made strides and is seeing benefits like lower interest rates and reduced inflation, but we’ve inherited a mess from Joe Biden, and change takes time.”
“Our commitment is to strive for a decent and affordable standard of living moving forward, and that’s how we’ll ultimately be evaluated after 2026.”
Vance strongly urged the MAGA movement to sidestep distractions and internal disputes, zeroing in on the broader agenda.
“Infighting is really stupid,” he reiterated. “I genuinely care about my fellow Americans, especially the younger generation having a decent life, and I’m invested in issues like immigration and sovereignty, not to mention fostering peace abroad so we can redirect our resources homeward.”
“If you care about those things, let’s join forces.”
