JD Vance: We Aim to Treat Foreigners with Respect, but Open Borders Don’t Uphold the Dignity of Undocumented Migrants

Vice President J.D. Vance Addresses Immigration Concerns

At a recent Breitbart News Policy event, Vice President J.D. Vance voiced strong concerns about the Biden administration’s immigration policies, claiming they pose a threat to national security and contribute to a humanitarian crisis.

Vance expressed his frustrations with the ongoing immigration discussions, stating, “One of the things that always frustrates me about the immigration debate is that it ignores that open borders are actually bad for the dignity of undocumented immigrants themselves.” He pointed out the serious issues at the border, such as young children falling victim to sex trafficking, and highlighted that “under the Biden administration, there were 300,000 missing children brought to our country by Mexican drug cartels.”

The Vice President further highlighted how criminal organizations are taking advantage of these border conditions. “Cartels were using children, in some cases as young as 9 and 10, as drug mules in their operations,” he said, deeming the situation a significant moral failing with global consequences. He argued that enhancing border security isn’t just beneficial for Americans but is also a humanitarian necessity. “When you empower cartels, when you empower traffickers, you empower the worst people in the world, whether in the United States or anywhere,” he added.

Vance also drew parallels with issues seen in Europe, criticizing the notion that there’s something inherently wrong about border controls. “We’ve seen this in Europe, in many places,” he noted, suggesting that both Europe and America share a misguided belief that maintaining borders is fundamentally cruel or even racist.

He dismissed these views, asserting that prioritizing the well-being of one’s citizens is crucial. “Putting the people’s best interests first is not an afterthought. It’s the very purpose of government,” he said. While he made it clear that he aims for “very good things for the Mexican people, the British people, the people of other countries,” he reiterated that as vice president, his primary responsibility is to “take care of the American people.”

Vance concluded, “We can’t do that if we’re flooding our country with tons of illegal immigrants and the drugs and crime they bring with them.”
