Vice President J.D. Vance to Attend Turning Point USA Event

Vice President J.D. Vance will participate in an event hosted by Turning Point USA at the University of Mississippi later this month, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Vance confirmed his attendance alongside Erika Kirk, the group’s president, during a recent appearance on the Charlie Kirk show. This event is scheduled for October 29 as part of the organization’s campus tour.

“Keeping Charlie’s memory alive is… well, that’s also about keeping the mission alive,” Vance remarked, recognizing the late Charlie Kirk’s impact. “No one can fill Charlie’s shoes, but if we each do our part, we can ensure his mission endures long after he’s gone. College campus tours are part of that.”

Vance emphasized his intention to mirror the format established by the late founder Charles Kirk, focusing mainly on engaging with the audience and answering their questions. He shared that he was a close friend of the conservative activist who was tragically killed last month at Utah Valley University.

“Being connected to someone like Charlie is significant to his legacy,” Vance added. “He didn’t just talk at people; he engaged with them.” This forthcoming event will be the sole Turning Point USA gathering attended by Erica Kirk on her campus tour, as revealed by a Turning Point spokesman. Andrew Corbett mentioned that Erica had originally aimed to attend more events but opted to reduce her appearances in order to process her husband’s death.

“I hope she can keep Charlie’s mission alive while also taking the time she needs for herself and her family,” Vance expressed.

Corbett anticipates that the event could draw around 10,000 attendees, indicating a strong community interest.

Erica Kirk recently honored her husband at the White House, where he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously.
