Karine Jean-Pierre Criticizes Caroline Leavitt on “The View”
Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House Press Secretary, labeled her successor Caroline Leavitt as “deplorable” during an appearance on “The View” this Tuesday.
Co-hosts presented a video of Leavitt remarking that the Democratic Party’s primary base includes “Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals.” Jean-Pierre responded, stating, “It’s deplorable for people who are listening to it.” She insisted this wasn’t just a personal issue but that the White House serves the American public, not just one individual.
Moreover, Jean-Pierre took aim at Leavitt’s social media interactions with a HuffPost journalist, making a lighthearted jab by suggesting that Leavitt acted like “your mother.” Her tone indicated frustration with Leavitt’s aggressive questioning style.
“The White House press secretary is not going to be an online troll,” Jean-Pierre asserted. “It’s a privilege to have that role and address the most powerful person in the world. Even if there are disagreements about freedom of the press, there needs to be respect for it.”
Jean-Pierre emphasized that the current political environment is increasingly partisan and noted that Leavitt’s rhetoric contributes to this divide. The term “deplorable” was a nod to comments made by Hillary Clinton about Donald Trump’s supporters back in 2016.
Jean-Pierre expressed that these tactics won’t help mend the political fragmentation we’re witnessing. “This should be about every American, every voter, every citizen,” she said, stressing that the focus should be on inclusivity rather than division. The White House has not commented on these statements.
Jean-Pierre has recently published a book titled “The Independent,” wherein she shares her criticisms of the Democratic Party and explains her departure from it earlier this year. She recounted her frustrations following Biden’s lackluster debate performance against Trump, which led to pressure on him to step back from the 2024 race.
Throughout the week, she has promoted her book across various platforms, including interviews on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “CBS Morning.”
Colbert, despite his support for Biden, expressed doubts about the President’s mental acuity, referencing a change he perceived in Biden within a matter of months. This raises broader concerns about Biden’s health as he ages.
