Concerns Among New Yorkers Regarding DSA and Crime
During a recent appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Jeanine Driscoll, a Republican candidate for Congress in New York’s 4th District, expressed that locals are increasingly worried about the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and crime rates.
Driscoll noted that her district leans Democratic, yet she believes anxiety over DSA and other issues transcends party lines.
“In Nassau County, there are more Democrats than Republicans, especially in Hempstead. It’s not a huge difference, but enough to affect the outcome if everyone votes along party lines. This seat has been Democratic for a long time—25 years before Anthony D’Esposito’s election in 2022—so I’m optimistic about flipping it,” she explained, sharing that she’s actively campaigning daily.
“From what I’m seeing, there’s definitely a heightened concern regarding New York City. I can walk just three blocks and I’m in the city itself. I love the city; it’s my home. But, with everything happening, particularly involving DSA and crime, it gives me pause, and I know many residents share this worry,” Driscoll added.
She also criticized Governor Kathy Hochul, stating that she lacks support in Nassau County. “I won’t speak for the entire state, but here in Nassau, people aren’t exactly fans of Kathy Hochul. Bruce is part of my district,” she mentioned, referring to Hochul’s Republican challenger, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
“The Democrats altered the election laws to hold municipal elections in even-numbered years, placing about 20 names on the ballot. I think they thought this would weaken us and diminish Republican presence, but they may have made a miscalculation. They’ve paired town supervisor elections with congressional votes, where the supervisors usually win,” she noted, bringing up the dynamics of local elections.
“There are numerous factors at play in this midterm election. We’re very aware of the daily crime, taxes, and how major corporations like Morgan Stanley are announcing departures. The burden of taxes falls on us as constituents,” Driscoll commented, emphasizing why she believes Democrats should not continue to be supported.
“Currently, it feels like Republicans hold sway in all of Nassau. So, I find it confusing that there are still Democrats in congressional roles,” she concluded.
