Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s Wedding Celebrations in Venice

On Thursday, as the wedding festivities for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez kicked off, celebrities like Orlando Bloom and Tom Brady were spotted taking water taxis around the luxurious canals of Venice, Italy. The atmosphere was quite lively, especially when Sanchez made a splash as she boarded a boat outside the Aman Hotel.

Reports suggest that the first event of their wedding was set to be a kickoff party in Cannaregio. It was noted that the wedding party had arranged for water taxis to ferry guests to various places in the city, which was interesting. I mean, how often do water taxis play a role in a wedding party? Furthermore, local authorities were prepared for the event, with traffic restrictions in place from 6 PM to midnight between Madonna del Orto and surrounding areas.

As for the venue, the kickoff party was reportedly at the Santa Alweis Complex—a stunning blend of a church and monastery dating back to the 14th century. Bezos apparently traveled with a sizable security detail—around ten bodyguards—to ensure the safety and privacy of the attendees. It seems the Italian government even deployed extra forces to handle the situation, especially with protests ongoing in the city.

On the day before, the couple was seen enjoying the romantic charm of Venice. However, there were last-minute changes concerning the wedding venue due to safety concerns tied to the protests. Initially, they planned to hold their event at the historic Scola Grande della Misericordia but instead chose a former shipyard. This location, I think, could be quite picturesque, because it’s entirely surrounded by water and reachable only by boat via a connecting bridge.

Invitations have gone out to numerous celebrities to join the wedding festivities. Although many details remain under wraps, the celebrations are expected to unfold in the beautiful scenery of Venice over the coming days. Interestingly, despite the ongoing local protests, the city’s mayor, Luigi Burgnaro, expressed pride in hosting such a notable event.
