Bezos and Sanchez’s Wedding Ties to Royal Celebration
Lauren Sanchez Bezos and Jeff Bezos recently hosted a stunning three-day wedding celebration that echoed the grandeur of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal nuptials.
On June 27th, during a reception in Venice, Italy, Ellie Goulding performed, as reported by People magazine. Interestingly, Goulding had also sung at the royal couple’s second wedding reception back in 2011 after their London ceremony.
At William and Kate’s reception, she covered Elton John’s classic, “Your Song,” which they danced to for their first dance. At Bezos and Sanchez’s wedding, she revisited that same track.
Additionally, Matteo Boseli, son of famed operatic singer Andrea Bocelli, serenaded the newlyweds with a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Helping You Fall in Love” for their own first dance.
In contrast, William and Kate’s initial wedding reception was a lunch hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II, while King Charles later organized a more intimate celebration at Buckingham Palace.
Notably, Elton John, a close friend of the late Princess Diana, attended the second reception, joined by David and Victoria Beckham.
As for Goulding, she hasn’t yet commented publicly about her recent performance, but she previously shared her experience of singing for William and Kate. During a 2012 interview, she recounted meeting William, learning they were fans of her music, and expressed surprise when she was approached to play at their wedding.
“I knew they liked my songs, but I was taken aback when I received the invite,” she mentioned. “I did think about whether I should spread the news; I didn’t want it out there for a while.”
Feeling the pressure, Goulding admitted her nerves leading up to her performance for the royal couple. “When it came time to sing ‘Your Song’ for their first dance, I was quite anxious. Yet, they seemed thrilled and expressed their gratitude. We celebrated together all night during the reception,” she recalled.
She also performed “Starry Eyed” along with some of her other original music, as well as popular covers like “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers and “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder.
In a further twist, Goulding reunited with William and Kate years later at the Earthshot Awards, showcasing her lasting connection with the royal family.
At the Bezos and Sanchez wedding reception, Usher entertained guests, performing his hit “Yeah,” while DJs like DJ Cassidy, DJ Kygo, and DJ Mei Kwok kept the energy alive. The guest list was a who’s who of celebrities, featuring names like Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and many more.
