Jeff Bezos' Aerospace Company Blue Origin is planning to cut approximately 10% of its workforce, the CEO told staff on Thursday.
The company “slenders the management layer” by eliminating the roles of engineering, research and development, program and project management, said Dave Limp, CEO of Blue Origin.
“The main focus from 2025 onwards is to increase production power and fire rhythms with customer speed, determinism and efficiency,” Limp said.
“We've grown and hired incredibly fast over the last few years, and as we grow, we've become less bureaucratic and less focus than we need,” he continued. “It has also become clear that our organizational structure must be changed to ensure an optimal role in implementing these priorities.”
According to Bloomberg, the layoffs are expected to affect around 1,000 employees.
Founded by Bezos, Blue Origin is struggling to keep pace with Elon Musk's SpaceX. However, the company achieved a famous victory last month when it successfully launched a new Glen Rocket after some delays.
Limp, who took over as CEO in 2023, offered an optimistic vision for Blue Origin on Thursday, “landing on the moon, delivering record numbers of incredible engines, and new Glenn and new Shepherds. It appears regularly.” year.
“I'll add that I'm very confident in the big opportunities in front of me and have never been more optimistic about our mission,” he said. “We will continue to invest, invent and hire hundreds of positions in areas that will help us achieve our goals and provide the best service to our customers.”
“We will be a stronger, faster, more customer-centric company that consistently meets and exceeds our commitments,” added Limp.
