Ronald Acknya Jr. needs to be a better teammate, according to at least one former Braves outfielder.
A few days after Aknya’s deleted post on X, and a few days after criticising manager Brian Snitker for the handling of outfielder Jarred Kelenic, Ex-Mlber Jeff Francoeur spoke to fans about the situation on the topic in 680, saying Acuña “Buriedz a Teammate.”
The origin of the situation comes from Saturday’s Braves game, when Kelenic hit a deep fly into the outfield and jogged out of the box, and it appears that he thinks the ball is coming out of the Truist Park.
Nevertheless, the ball did not leave the garden and Kellenick was discarded in 2 bases.
Braves Reporter Mark Bowman of MLB.com wrote in X the following day, when Snitker said, “Am I doing that?” When asked if he spoke to Kellenick about his lack of fuss.
In his reply, Acuña wrote:
Pointing out how the Braves are being criticised for their slow start, Frankour said that Acknya’s posting is not something the team needs.
“And you have a guy who is supposed to be your teammate.
Francoeur then stated every concept that Snitker, who once benched Acuña in 2019 for a lack of fuss, was racist.
“And you want to go more in context, Aknya has been warned over and over again. Let’s talk 10 times to run 10 before he yanking. This is the first time.
“Also to give context, Jarred Kelenic would sit in the man’s office on Sunday morning Easter morning, waiting for him for 30 minutes and crying and apologizing, so there’s your context.
“Ronald basically filled his teammates. This wasn’t the national story. We probably didn’t talk on Monday. Are you okay? Let’s be honest.
Francoeur later said that both former managers Bobby Cox and Hall of Fame icon Hank Aaron had preached that no one was bigger than “The A.”
Francoeur admitted that Acuña is probably the most talented player in the franchise’s history, but that shouldn’t rule him out as a “good teammate.”
“Be a good teammate,” Francisur said. “Be a good teammate. You’re making millions of dollars. You’re playing kids’ games. Be a good teammate and pull for the team.”
