Jeff McNeil exits with wrist contusion in Mets injury concern

The thriving Mets found reason for concern.

Jeff McNeil left the game in the sixth inning of Friday's game against the Reds at Citi Field with a right wrist contusion that the team said will need to be evaluated Saturday.

In the inning before, the second baseman tried to bunt but pulled his bat back after a Brandon Williamson curveball hit him on the wrist.

McNeil was evaluated by a trainer due to apparent pain, but remained in the game and turned in a double play with a strong throw to first base in the top of the sixth inning.

But when it was his turn to bat in the bottom of the inning, McNeil was out and Harrison Bader was up to bat.

Reserve pitcher Jose Iglesias advanced to second base in the seventh inning.
