Jelly Roll & Brandon Lake Team Up for a Reimagined Version of ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’

Last month, Lake released Hard-Fought Hallelujah: Heavyweight Edition, an eight-track EP containing various versions of the song, including live, demo, acoustic, and instrumental versions. The song landed Lake on the Billboard Hot 100 and became his sixth No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart.

At the 2024 Dove Awards, Lake won Songwriter of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for his album Coat of Many Colors. He was also nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album (Coat of Many Colors) and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song (“Praise”).

On the other hand, Jelly Roll's latest album is beautifully brokenwhich topped the Billboard 200 last year and won three trophies at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. Rolle, a former drug dealer turned country star, rose to fame in 2021 after starting his music career as a hip-hop artist in 2003. His songs often include faith-centered references.

During an interview with fox news Last April, he spoke about how his faith in God is his “driving force” in both life and career.

“I had faith and believed it would work out,” he says. “Can you imagine a 37-year-old struggling musician telling people that that's his job?”

In his acceptance speech at the 2024 iHeartRadio Awards, he shared how the Lord has influenced his career.

“What does it mean for a guy like me to have the opportunity to be named New Pop Artist of the Year? [the] What about iHeartRadio's awards? It means God always uses the least likely messenger to convey the greatest message, every time,” he said.
