Jason Deford, a famous country singer known as Jelly Roll, urged Congress on Wednesday to pass legislation to limit the distribution of fentanyl.
Jerry Rolle gave opening statements at the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing on “Stopping Fentanyl,” urging lawmakers to enact legislation to stop fentanyl. Jerry Roll, who previously served time in prison on drug charges, said he has no political allies and his criminal record limits his voting rights.
“I could sit here and cry for days about carrying the coffins of people I loved dearly, good people,” he said. “Not just drug addicts. Uncles, friends, cousins, just regular people.”
“I was part of the problem. I stand here now as someone who wants to be part of the solution,” he said.

Jerry Rolle spoke at a Senate hearing in favor of the fentanyl bill and expressed his thoughts on America's dangerous drug problem.
“I've attended more funerals than I want to share with you,” he said.
“Every time we perform, we witness the heartbreaking effects of fentanyl.”
“We are seeing fans grapple with this tragedy in the form of music. They are seeking solace in music and hope that what they went through will not befall anyone else,” he said. Ta.

Jelly Roll has combined his experience at both ends of the spectrum into the bills he supports.

“Hey guys, I'm a dumb songwriter, but I've witnessed this firsthand in a way that most people haven't. I want you all to not only pass this bill, but do it where it matters: at the kitchen table. “I encourage you to take up this bill,” he said.
