Jelly Roll Files for Divorce from Wife Bunny Zoe
Jelly Roll has officially initiated divorce proceedings from his wife, Bunny Zoe. The country music artist submitted the necessary paperwork in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18, as shown in public court records.
The separation date is noted as May 9, with Jelly Roll citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Bunny, whose real name is Alisa Deford, and Jelly Roll got married in August 2016 during a passionate ceremony in Las Vegas after having met the previous year.
Bunny became a stepmother to Jelly Roll’s children from previous relationships, a daughter named Bailey and a son named Noah. Just a few months back, at the Grammy Awards in February, the couple appeared affectionate and in love as they walked the red carpet together.
Jelly Roll even celebrated Bunny when she won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Country Album. Bunny has previously opened up in her memoir, “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” about the trials in their relationship, detailing her chaotic upbringing and the complexity of their early days together.
Long before they became a popular couple in country music, they faced numerous challenges. Bunny recounted a particularly shocking night when she discovered that Jelly Roll’s ex-girlfriend was waiting for her at a hotel nearby.
Bunny expressed her initial devastation upon learning this, explaining that it made her reflect on her own patterns in relationships. She noted that she never envisioned a typical marriage and emphasized that their life together defied traditional norms. She mentioned, “I think a lot of people need to understand that we were not a traditional bride and groom in this marriage.”
Reflecting on their journey, she shared their struggles with commitment, stating, “At the end of the day, I think a lot of it was a self-esteem issue on both parts.” Both were haunted by their pasts, and Bunny admitted that her experiences shaped her views on trust and relationships.
The couple sought marriage counseling in an attempt to mend their relationship, but it escalated into a chaotic session filled with unresolved anger. Bunny recalled thinking after that session, “This is over. We’ll never be together again.” Despite that moment, they did reconcile, committing to better themselves and redefine their marriage.
In 2023, the couple renewed their vows at the same Las Vegas chapel where they originally wed. Bunny indicated that their commitment remains strong, highlighting that their relationship has evolved over time. She mentioned how they choose to face challenges together, referring to their method as “getting in the trenches.” Their relationship is a continual choice, one that they make each day, showcasing the complexities and triumphs that come with love.
