Jelly Roll threw his phone in river after he felt ‘overwhelmed’ and stressed

Jelly Roll says goodbye to stress.

The country star decided to step away from technology and sealed the deal by throwing his phone into a river.

“It may not be the healthiest thing to do, but I can confidently tell people that I'm not going to have a cell phone at all. [2025]” Jelly Roll said of his wife. Bunny Zoe Podcast “Dumb blonde.”

Jelly Roll made this comment after asking the driver to take him to the Cumberland River.

“I was getting hundreds of text messages a day, and I was just overwhelmed,” he explained. “And then when I finally sat down and tried to get back in touch, I felt like a really bad person for missing the call…I was carrying a lot of guilt. I felt a lot of guilt because of it.”

The “Son of a Sinner” singer previously said in an interview that he vowed to throw his phone off the Shelby Street Bridge if the “Beautifully Broken Tour” went well.

During the podcast, Jelly Roll's wife said this isn't the first time the musician has gotten rid of his cell phone. She added that people would contact her to try to get in touch with Jellyroll.

“I've had the same number for almost 10 years. My husband has had it about 17 times,” she said.

Jelly Roll says, “I know I'm going to miss my text messages, and I know I have so many that it's stressful to go check them.So to avoid that, I don't mindlessly scroll.'' or…I used to have news alerts on my phone, and then we always end up in big news stories,” he added. “I started getting caught up in it.”

Jelly Roll's plan was to have a flip phone in 2025. “It's healthy for me. I use my phone, [dissociate] In the same way. “

The Nashville, Tenn., native said his phone doesn't help him become the person he wants to be.

“I want to be a better husband. I want to be a better father. I want to be a better person. I want to be a better artist.”

On Nov. 27, Bunny shared a video with her on FaceTime before throwing her phone over a bridge.

“You know how I always throw my phone away…Mom, I love you, baby, I love you,” he said over the phone.

“I'm a little tipsy. I'm looking forward to spending the next few months just with you all, without any outside interference…Freedom, baby.”

During the podcast, Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley Deford) further said that his weight will not determine how successful he will be in the future.

“There's a reason I did this in public,” he told his wife. “I want to be honest with people about the struggles I had with these shoes. I wore them for a long time.”

“When you're as big as I am, it's a little embarrassing when you lose weight,” explained the “Save Me” singer, who lost 100 pounds.

“They're so embarrassed that they go back and forth and hide and lose weight, but then they come back… They don't really know how to interact with the world. They look and feel different. And in a sense, they find a completely new path.”

Jelly Roll had set a new goal for herself: to become a cover model. “I want to be on the cover of Men's Health by March 2026,” he told his wife, who shared his excitement. “That's my new goal. So I want to make the biggest change.”
