Jen Psaki makes light of Usha Vance's fear of her VP husband — criticized for 'offensive' remarks

Criticism of Jen Psaki’s Remarks on Vice President J.D. Vance

MSNBC host Jen Psaki faced backlash on Tuesday after making what some described as “nasty” comments regarding Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha.

During a discussion on her podcast, she shared her concerns about Vance’s role within the Trump administration, hinting that, in some ways, he may be more intimidating than Trump himself. Psaki remarked that Usha might feel similarly, adding a layer of discomfort to her statements.

“I think J.D. Vance, the little Manchurian candidate, wants more than anything to be president,” she stated. Psaki then expressed faux concern for Usha, suggesting, “Are you okay? Blink four times. We’re here. We’ll save you.”

Psaki discussed Vance’s ambitions, suggesting he would do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, remarking on his adaptability in pleasing different audiences.

The podcast episode description also included a similar joke, stating, “Usha Vance, if you need help, just blink twice.”

Many users on X reacted strongly to Psaki’s comments, calling them “disgusting” and “despicable,” and even likening her remarks to something worse than previous inflammatory statements.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha declared, “He’s not a good person. At all.” Meanwhile, the TikTok account Libs on X pointed out the implications of Psaki’s words, calling on MSNBC to reconsider her role.

Townhall.com writer Amy Curtis condemned Psaki’s comments, claiming they were derogatory toward Usha, who is reportedly happily married and committed to her husband. Curtis added that it trivializes the experiences of those genuinely in troubling relationships.

Others joined in on the mockery of Psaki’s commentary, with remarks about the rapid escalation to extreme comparisons being, perhaps, slightly over the top. Some suggested her comments were not only misplaced but also indicated personal biases.

In response to the fallout, Fox News Digital attempted to seek remarks from the White House and the Vice President’s Office.
