Hoda Kotb kicked off Friday’s broadcast. today We feature a new article about Jenna Bush Hager’s book club, “Read With Jenna.”
After the co-hosts discussed Bush Hager’s love of reading (during which she recounted the time she nearly met her idol, Toni Morrison, thanks to Diane Sawyer), Kotb tried to deflect the discussion by promising to read the article later, but Bush Hager wasn’t buying it at all.
“I loved it so much I’m going to read the whole thing later,” Kotb said.
“I guess so,” Bush Hager replied, giving a playful wink to the camera.
Kotb laughed and defended himself. “I couldn’t read it all at once, it’s pages and pages,” he said, leafing through the magazine. “Yeah, well, just one page. [page].”
“Oh no, it’s only about a page,” Bush Hager replied with a laugh.
of today The hosts celebrated the five-year anniversary of “Read With Jenna” earlier this year by reflecting on the success of the book club, and after sharing some impressive statistics about the book club, Kotb surprisingly revealed that of the 63 books that “Read With Jenna” has featured over the years, she’s only read two of them.
“How many books have you read?” Bush Hager asked his co-star during the broadcast.
While Kotb sheepishly admitted to only reading one, Bush Hager seemed to remember reading at least two books in her book club over the years, but Kotb couldn’t even remember the exact titles!
