Jenna Ortega Speaks Out on Recent Events
Actress Jenna Ortega expressed her deep concern over recent events, including immigrant raids in Los Angeles and the war in the Middle East. She took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, declaring that “the world is crying everywhere.” Ortega reflected on the struggles of individuals in Los Angeles, who have had their lives disrupted, and the innocent civilians affected by ongoing conflicts in Iran.
In her post, she urged followers to remain aware of these issues, stating, “human freedom across the ocean is being violated by such violence.” She emphasized the importance of empathy and activism, suggesting that it’s crucial to educate oneself and be angry about injustices rather than dismiss them as someone else’s problems.
Ortega’s remarks seemed to be a response to the recent Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid in Los Angeles, which sparked protests that escalated into violence, harming local businesses. Her message also alluded to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict and the implications this has had on her “Scream” co-star Melissa Barrera, who pulled out of the upcoming sequel over these events.
Interestingly, Ortega’s comments coincided with “no Kings” rallies popping up across the country in protest of President Donald Trump and his policies.
Singer Olivia Rodrigo also shared her thoughts on Instagram the same day, addressing the violent deportations happening in her community. She expressed her frustration at the treatment of hardworking immigrants, emphasizing that Los Angeles thrives on its diverse population and that the current administration’s actions are damaging to that community.
