Jennifer Lawrence Reflects on Motherhood and Career

In a recent episode of the “Smartless” podcast, actress Jennifer Lawrence shared her perspective on being a mother and her approach to work. Hosted by Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, the conversation revealed that Lawrence identifies as a “stay-at-home” mom, despite being busy with her career during certain times of the year.

“I consider myself a stay-at-home mom,” she noted, “but I’m obviously working.” Lawrence mentioned that she typically has several months a year dedicated to filming, which keeps her schedule full.

She just wrapped up the press tour for her film “Die My Love,” where she stars alongside Robert Pattinson. Speaking about her busy periods, she said, “I’m not used to being this busy. During filming, my workload lasts about three months. After that, I don’t have much else to do, which feels calming.” She explained her routine during those times: “I go to work, then home, rest, and repeat. It’s only during promotions, which last about two weeks, that I’m actively busy.”

“I consider myself a housewife.”

They touched on the topic of downtime, and Lawrence agreed with Bateman when he remarked, “I like doing nothing.” Interestingly, she drew a line at late-night engagements, stating that a 9 p.m. Q&A event was out of the question for her.

Lawrence also humorously described her evenings: “I fall asleep reading on my Kindle pretty early. The light usually goes off by 9:15 a.m., but sometimes it’s even earlier.” She also recalled a moment when she was invited to a party starting at 9 p.m. while on vacation, and, unsurprisingly, she declined.

Talking about her family, she mentioned her two young sons with husband Cooke Maroney—3-year-old Cy and nearly 1-year-old Louis. She quipped about parenting, saying, “There’s no way a 9-month-old would have a hangover. Even a 3-year-old doesn’t have that option.” Lawrence’s podcast appearance came right after she made a stunning appearance at the Golden Globes, where she dazzled on the red carpet.

Lawrence wore a sheer Givenchy gown adorned with pink and green floral embroidery, complete with a plunging neckline and a waist cut-out. Diamond jewelry and a gold clutch rounded out her elegant look. This year marked another significant moment for her as she was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture or Drama for her role in “Die My Love.”
