Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Her Past Marriage to Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez recently shared her thoughts on her brief marriage to Ben Affleck while debuting six new songs for an intimate group of 30 fans at a listening party in Los Angeles.
One of the highlights was “Wreckage of You,” a pop ballad she co-wrote just two weeks prior, as noted by attendee Edgard Louis Rivera.
Lopez expressed a desire to explore themes related to overcoming challenging situations in her new music, according to an insider at the event. The concept for “Wreckage of You” struck her during a moment of rest after a long day of rehearsals. She reflected on how difficult the previous year had been, both for herself and Affleck.
She aimed to write a song that radiated strength and positivity, something to signify a departure from tough times. “I kept thinking about the word ‘shipwreck’,” Rivera mentioned. “It signifies destruction, but she wasn’t broken. The essence of the lyrics is, ‘After your wreckage, I am strong.’
Other attendees remarked that the remaining songs shared were upbeat and had a vibrant energy.
Another attendee echoed Rivera’s sentiments, describing the new ballad as “an empowering and emotional piece about emerging from a relationship and becoming stronger.” The other songs—”Up All Night,” “All Night,” “Regular,” “Free,” “Save Me Tonight,” and “Birthday”—were noted for their cheerful and uplifting vibe.
Representatives for Affleck and Lopez did not respond to inquiries about the event.
Lopez made headlines in August 2024 when she unexpectedly filed for divorce from Affleck after two years of marriage. Reports indicated they had been separated since April that year. The divorce was finalized in January, but the formal terms weren’t effective until late February, marking both stars as officially single.
Later, sources mentioned that Lopez seemed rejuvenated post-divorce, ready to open herself up to new relationships. Friends have encouraged her in this new chapter, and she is keen on meeting new people.
