Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Career Decisions

Jennifer Lopez recently opened up about a career decision she wishes she could change. During a guest appearance on a talk show, she discussed turning down a role in the 2002 film Unfaithful. This choice, she admitted, still “haunts” her.

Following Lopez’s rejection, Diane Lane was cast in the lead and went on to earn an Oscar nomination for her performance. In her conversation, Lopez mentioned how director Adrian Lyne had offered her the role. “The script wasn’t great, but he made it great,” she said, recalling her thoughts during that time.

Diane Lane played the character of Constance “Connie” Sumner, who gets involved in a tumultuous affair, alongside Richard Gere. Lopez chuckled while mentioning Lane’s nomination, as if still grappling with the weight of her own decision.

When Howard Stern asked her if it was tough to live with that choice, Lopez reflected, “It’s funny. I can’t get it out of my head.” She expressed confusion about why she had declined such a significant opportunity, wondering what had been going through her mind back then.

In a career milestone, Lane received commendations for her portrayal in the film but ultimately lost the Oscar to Nicole Kidman for her role in The Hours, a category packed with fierce competition.

Aside from discussing career regrets, Lopez didn’t hold back on sharing her thoughts about her best on-screen kisses. During a light-hearted segment on another talk show, she highlighted a long list of co-stars but declared that Brett Goldstein, with whom she recently worked, was her favorite.

Lopez’s new romantic comedy, Office Romance, features Goldstein and was written by him. Their chemistry on set evidently made a lasting impression on her.
