Jennifer Welch: Rising Star in Liberal Media

Jennifer Welch has gained considerable traction in liberal media circles, becoming a notable figure thanks to her candid and sometimes extreme views. She’s co-host of the podcast “I’ve Had It,” which began as a space to express everyday grievances and push back against “toxic positivity” from influencers, but has shifted towards more political discourse since 2024.

Based in Oklahoma City, Welch is an interior designer who first came into the public eye through the Bravo show “Sweet Home Oklahoma,” airing from 2017 to 2018. Since launching her podcast with Angie “Pumps” Sullivan in 2022, it has amassed a significant following—1.5 million YouTube subscribers and 4.5 million social media followers. Their guests have included notable political figures like former President Barack Obama and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, further solidifying Welch’s influence within the party.

The podcast has turned into a platform for potential presidential candidates ahead of the 2028 elections, featuring individuals like Gavin Newsom and Wes Moore. Other prominent Democrats, including New York Governor Kathy Hochul, have also graced the show, reinforcing its status as essential listening for Democrats aspiring for higher office.

Welch is positioning herself as a key player in Democratic circles. NewsBusters editor Curtis Hawk mentioned that not only is she influential now, but her presence is likely to grow, especially with Stephen Colbert stepping back from his role. Hawk expressed concern over Welch’s extreme rhetoric, suggesting she promotes division by portraying dissenting voices as extreme or dangerous.

Her bold comments often draw public attention. Welch has made some controversial statements, especially about conservative figures. For instance, she suggested Charlie Kirk justified his assassination through his strong support for the Second Amendment and has not hesitated to use harsh language toward various individuals, including Trump supporters. At times, her remarks have been filled with profanity, reflecting her aggressive style.

Moreover, she has hinted at prosecuting Trump and his allies if Democrats reclaim power, even questioning the authenticity of the attempted assassination on Trump in 2024.

Her rhetoric has resonated widely, as evidenced by “I’ve Had It” generating 660 million plays across platforms in 2025—an impressive increase from the previous year. Media outlets have labelled the podcast blasphemous yet insightful, acknowledging Welch as one of the left’s more provocative figures.

The Washington Post noted that Welch’s perspectives have become sharper, openly criticizing both political parties and pressing against corporate influence and issues like LGBTQ+ rights. Although some have raised concerns about the potential risks of her comments giving an advantage to Republicans, Welch and Sullivan argue that candid, spontaneous conversations are what the party needs.

In interviews, Welch has labeled certain Democratic preferences as misguided, calling out figures like Rahm Emanuel for their cautiousness on transgender rights. Her comparisons of party leaders to historical figures who capitulated to fascism further underline her strong opinions.

Despite her growing influence, some commentators, like Tim Young from the Heritage Foundation, doubt whether Welch can truly be seen as the left’s version of Joe Rogan. Young suggests that while she’s gaining a platform, her extreme rhetoric might limit her long-term appeal and effectiveness compared to those in more centrist positions.

Welch has yet to provide comment, leaving her future influence and role open to speculation.
