Jenny McCarthy says a two-year health ordeal left her physically drained and so worried about mold that she moved into a tent while trying to recover.
On an episode of her show, McCarthy said the problems began in 2024 with a toothache and grew into a long series of medical issues, including infections, surgeries and symptoms she struggled to explain.
She described having teeth removed, dental implants fall out, damage to her jawbone and recurring cysts around her eyes. She also said she experienced intense leg cramps, facial swelling, worsening food allergies and insomnia.
McCarthy said testing eventually led her to believe mold and mycotoxins were affecting her health and immune system. Before that, she had not suspected mold because she thought her home was clean.
After repeated procedures and no clear resolution, she said she became exhausted by the medical process and increasingly anxious about possible triggers. At one point, she recalled, she was so desperate to get better that she lived in a tent.
McCarthy said her functional medicine doctor urged her to discuss test results around Christmas. According to McCarthy, the doctor told her the results showed serious mold concerns and warned that a particular type could cause seizures if it reached the brain.
She said her treatment plan included daily infrared sauna sessions, vitamins and supplements, a powdered drink, nasal sprays and castor oil packs intended to support lymphatic drainage.
McCarthy said she is still undergoing detox treatment and was in her seventh month at the time of the episode. She added that the experience has left her wary of buildings, saying she sometimes feels she can detect mold as soon as she walks inside.
