Jenny McCarthy Reflects on Charlie Kirk’s Impact
TV personality Jenny McCarthy shared her thoughts on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, indicating it sparked a spiritual awakening in many, herself included. In a podcast interview with Alex Clark on December 11, McCarthy opened up about her political shift toward the right, her involvement in the Make America Healthy Again movement, and how Kirk’s life and tragic death left a significant mark on her.
Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was shot on September 10, 2025, while addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University. McCarthy expressed her admiration for his bravery, noting how he faced threats without backing down.
Reflecting on Kirk’s death, McCarthy mentioned the stark contrast in perceptions of him: “It was very sad because his work was very good,” she said, pointing out that many only heard one side of his story. She emphasized the confusion around his legacy, noting that the narrative wasn’t shared fairly among different groups.
Her emotional reaction to Kirk’s death stemmed partly from her own experiences with backlash for her activism, which has taken a toll on her career. Recalling the moment she learned of his shooting, she described it as a “dark day,” filled with prayers for his recovery.
“I was so hurt,” she admitted. “I prayed and prayed, hoping for healing, yet deep down, I knew the reality was different. It’s a dark time that still lingers for many.” McCarthy’s grief mirrored that felt by a vast community of supporters.
Following Kirk’s passing, McCarthy sought some sense of purpose in the tragedy, noting a larger spiritual awakening that she felt resonated with many others. “Finding the good in something scary helps you move on,” she suggested, citing how many have turned to faith, herself among them.
Grew up with a strong Catholic faith, the loss of Kirk seemed to deepen her beliefs. McCarthy expressed her renewed commitment, saying, “I have always been a follower of Christ, but when He died, I surrendered completely. It sparked an eagerness in me to dive into Bible study.”
Further reflecting on Kirk’s legacy, she expressed confidence that he was aware of the risks linked to his activism and the broad admiration he garnered. “Charlie knew exactly what he was doing,” she noted, believing he recognized the profound impact he had, which is now leading to a sense of collective awakening across the nation.
Religious leaders have reported a rise in church attendance and spiritual engagement among college students, attributing this trend to the “Charlie Kirk effect.” Additionally, reports indicate Bible sales surged by 36% following Kirk’s assassination in September, reflecting the growing public interest in faith during this time of upheaval.
