A ruling on a recent episode of “Jeopardy!” has fans infuriated.

On Wednesday’s game show, Kelly Proulx hit the buzzer to answer a clue in the “Waterfall” category, and because she added an extra “s” to the end of her answer, host Ken Jennings didn’t give her any points, which fans are calling “cruel.”

The hint was this: “The thin ribbons of water tumbling down from Yosemite Falls fluttered in the air like sheer cloth, hence the name of this wedding outfit.”

Prue replied, “What is Bridal Veil Falls?”

“No, sorry,” Jennings responded. “I couldn’t get that because it’s actually ‘Bridal Veil Fall.’ The question is, ‘What is a bridal veil?'”

Proulx did not win the game; although she was the previous winner, her incorrect answers did not contribute to her defeat due to fellow contestant Isaac Hirsch’s large lead and the fact that all three contestants failed to correctly guess the Final Jeopardy hint.

Still, fans were outraged by Jennings’ call, complaining that it was a “brutal call.”

“Kelly should feel bad about this,” one person wrote on Jeopardy!’s Reddit page, while another called the decision to oppose her answer “extremely pedantic.”

Another commented: “Wow Kelly got duped. The ruling on Bridal Veil Falls/Falls is ridiculous. Adding the S seems to fall entirely into ‘yeah we’ll take it’ territory.”

One person wrote: “I always have a lot of respect for judges but the judge who made this decision is rubbish. There are no clues leading up to the ‘tip’ so she got it right where she needed to. So disgusting.”

Others explained that the problem was that the judge was only looking for the name of the garment: “bridal veil.” They argued that Proulx should have been completely accurate to the letter by choosing to provide additional information with the full name of the place.

Last week, fans of the long-running game show slammed each other over another clue involving actress Zendaya.

“Before setting the tennis world on fire in 2024, this unnamed star made a guest appearance on Disney Channel’s ‘Good Luck Charlie.'” I read the clues.

Contestant Stacey Garner correctly guessed Zendaya, but the clue left some online confused, as the actress only appeared in one episode of Good Luck Charlie.

“Jeopardy mistakenly reported that Zendaya was in Good Luck, Charlie,” one online user wrote to X.

Another wrote: “Zendaya wasn’t in Good Luck Charlie…right?”

“What’s a crossover episode?” asked another X user.

Zendaya began her career as a child actress on Disney’s Shake It Up, which aired for three seasons from 2010 to 2013. As mentioned above, she played the show’s character Rocky Blue in one crossover episode.
