‘Jeopardy!’ fans upset after Ken Jennings’ ‘very difficult’ ruling

One “Danger!” That answer sparked a heated debate among game show fans.

A recent episode of the popular game show left viewers furious over a mispronounced answer.

Mark Fitzpatrick, five-day “Jeopardy!” champion, picked an $800 tip from the “Just Doin' My Job” category.

The prompt read, “I know how to properly use propofol. I can count to 16 (work character). I can tell people to count backwards from 100.”

While saying “Danger!” Presenter Ken Jennings was looking for the correct answer: 'anesthetist', but contestant Eamonn Campbell seemed to be having trouble pronouncing the word.

“An anatomist?” Campbell answered.

Jennings gave the contestant another chance, but kept stumbling over the correct pronunciation of words.

“Anesthesiologist?” he mispronounced again.

Once again, “Danger!” contestant Dot White answered, “What is an anesthesiologist?” while saying the correct pronunciation of the word, and Jennings accepted the correct answer.

Fans were quick to react to the questionable verdict on the defiant prompt.

“Jeopardy and Ken Jennings go on another rant… twisting Eamon's answer as 'anaesthetist'… unbelievable!!” one comment read.

Another fan wrote: “Are you kidding me?!!! Eamon Campbell has a lisp…he can't seem to pronounce 'anesthetist'.” Or maybe they just don't know the word…

Other viewers disagreed with the outraged fans, insisting that pronunciation is extremely important.

“That's not true. You can clearly see that his pronunciation is missing the first 's'. He said 'ana-theeze-iologist' instead of 'ana-steeze-iologist.' @KenJennings got it right twice. ”

“Danger!” one fan simply responded, writing, “Pronunciation is important.”

This isn't the first time viewers have criticized a controversial ruling on a game show.

Earlier this year, a verdict was handed down for an episode of “Jeopardy!” Fans crossed their arms.

During an episode of the game show, contestant Kelly Proulx jumped in to answer clues in the “Waterfalls” category. She added an extra “s” at the end of her response, which was enough for host Jennings to deny her point, which fans called “brutal.”

The clue read, “Yosemite Falls, with its wispy ribbons of water fluttering in the air like sheer cloth, gives the couple's outfit its name.”

Proulx replied, “What is Bridalveil Falls?”

“No, I'm sorry,” Jennings replied. “I couldn't accept that because it's actually the fall of the bridal veil. It's, 'What is a bridal veil?'

Fans were upset by Jennings' ruling, complaining that it was a “brutal sentence”.

“Kelly should hate this,” one person wrote on Jeopardy! On the Reddit page, some people called her decision to respond “very pedantic.”
