Jerry Jones feels sorry for Micah Parsons as injury ends his season

Jerry Jones Reflects on Injured Former Cowboy

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, shared his thoughts on Tuesday, expressing sympathy after the Packers announced that former Dallas pass rusher, Micah Parsons, suffered a season-ending torn ACL during their Week 15 matchup against the Broncos.

“I feel sad for Mika,” Jones remarked during an interview on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “It’s quite a challenge, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.” He also referenced Michael Irvin’s experience with a similar injury and how, after undergoing surgery, Irvin realized the true significance of football in his life. It was a moment that, perhaps, brought him clarity about the sport and his career.

Parsons sustained a non-contact injury to his left knee and had to leave the game in the third quarter.

Since joining the Packers, Parsons, a former first-round pick, had just started his 14th game after being traded from the Cowboys in August. Tensions had built between him and the Cowboys during summer contract negotiations, leading to his transfer to Green Bay in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

This unease seemed to linger, especially when the Packers visited Dallas in Week 4, a game that ended in a surprising 40-40 tie.

After Parsons’ serious injury, Jones extended his prayers to the athlete, wishing him the best in this tough time.

“There are many ways to solve this problem, but Micah, I wish you the best of luck,” he said, perhaps hinting at the complexities of recovery.

Before the injury, the 26-year-old linebacker had notably tallied 12.5 sacks, ranking third in the NFL.

The Packers, currently sitting at 9-4-1, hold a chance to clinch a playoff spot if they can defeat the Bears on Saturday, coupled with the Lions losing to the Steelers. In contrast, the Cowboys, at 6-7-1, have already been eliminated from postseason contention due to a streak of losses.
