The legal battle between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and 27-year-old Alexandra Davis, who claimed he was her father, has come to an end.
Jones and the woman reportedly reached a settlement in a Texas court on Tuesday, bringing the high-profile case to an abrupt end.
Jones’ counterclaim stems from a 2022 lawsuit in which Alexandra claims she was conceived in the mid-1990s during Jones’ relationship with his mother, Cynthia Davis.
Jones, 81, filed suit alleging breach of paternity agreement he made with Cynthia in 1998, two years after Alexandra was born.
Judge Robert W. Schroeder III said both lawsuits have been dismissed in their entirety with a “no contest,” meaning the cases have been permanently dismissed.
Jones was scheduled to testify at trial, possibly as soon as Tuesday, before the case was dropped.
“I’m sorry that it came to this and I’m pleased that it was resolved to everyone’s satisfaction,” Jones said after Tuesday’s hearing. According to NBC Dallas Fort Worth.
WFAA Dallas reports Alexandra and Cynthia were also pleased with the outcome of the trial.
According to court records, Jones paid more than $3 million through trusts beginning when Alexandra was a child.
Jones has previously denied being Alexandra’s father.
Earlier this year, a judge upheld a ruling requiring Jones, who has been married to his wife Eugenia Jones since 1963, to take a paternity test to determine whether he is indeed Alexandra’s father.
Jones, who arrived late to the Cowboys’ camp in Oxnard, California, is scheduled to travel to Southern California to join the team ahead of their opening day press conference on Saturday.
