Jerry Jones seemingly threatens to have Dallas radio hosts fired

Jerry Jones went into full meltdown mode Tuesday while answering a question during his weekly radio interview in Dallas, appearing to cross the line and threaten to fire the host.

Mr. Jones, 82, Audacy's 105.3 The Fan's “Shan & RJ” Two days after the Cowboys (3-3) suffered a 47-9 humiliation at home to the Lions, the longtime owner was furious over questions about the team's approach to roster upgrades in the offseason, and some fans were worried that the team would be disappointed. I felt like I didn't do enough.

“This is not your job. Your job is not to make me explain all the reasons why I did something and then say I'm sorry for doing it. That's not your job. I’m going to ask you these questions. It’s not a joke,” Jones fumed at Shan Sharif, RJ Choppy and Bobby Belt. “You're not going to know what your team is doing right or wrong. If you, or five or 10 people like you, you need to come here. [NFL] Today we're going to be in a meeting of 32 teams, you guys are geniuses.

“Do you really think I'm going to sit here with a microphone and say all the things I've done wrong, ignoring my rights? Listen, we both know that we have a lot of great fans, I know I've talked to a lot of our wonderful listeners, and I'm very sorry for what happened on Sunday. I'm disgusted by what happened on Sunday.”

The Cowboys didn't make any major additions after Jones declared they would be “all in” on 2024, but on Tuesday they announced big contract extensions for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. He mentioned that it meets the definition of “all in.”

Jones said he “remembers” the team's criticism in the offseason.

“One of the stupidest things I ever did, and one that no one ever analyzed, was buying the Cowboys. It was a fool to do that. '' Jones said on his radio show, referring to criticism of his $140 million purchase of the team in 1989.

“So sometimes stupid things turn out to be good decisions. Sometimes smart decisions turn out to be bad decisions. The truth is, when you make something, at that point you don't know if it's going to be good or not. I don't know. So let's move on, I'm going to answer your question, dude. I'd like to have a conversation this morning, okay?”

The Cowboys are allowing 28 points per game, third-worst in the NFL, and their -6 turnover differential is tied for third-worst in the league.

Prescott had eight touchdown passes and six interceptions.

Jones reiterated that there are no plans to fire head coach Mike McCarthy and said there will be no coaching changes again during the season.

But radio hosts have an advantage.
