Cowboys Start 2025 Season with Loss to Eagles
The Dallas Cowboys kicked off the 2025 season at 0-1 after a defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans were keen to hear from owner Jerry Jones, especially regarding the team’s defense in the absence of star player Micah Parsons.
While Parsons transitions to the Green Bay Packers following an unexpected trade from the Cowboys, the team surrendered 24 points in the loss to the Eagles on Thursday night.
Post-game, Jones addressed media inquiries at Lincoln Financial Field. When asked about the potential impact of Parsons’ absence, his response was somewhat evasive.
“You know, losing a great player like him affects any team,” Jones remarked. “But I was really looking at the players who stepped up. No. 54 made a significant impact on their offense.”
Jones referenced Sam Williams, who recorded five tackles and was notably involved in pressuring Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts managed to score two touchdowns in the first half, pushing the Cowboys to a 21-20 lead after a standout performance from last season’s offensive Player of the Year. However, the Cowboys’ defense tightened in the second half, limiting the Eagles to just three points.
As for quarterback Dak Prescott, he attempted to regain control but encountered some challenges, particularly with dropped passes that hurt the team’s chances in the fourth quarter.
The Cowboys also faced difficulties on the ground, with Kenny Clark—an all-pro tackle acquired as part of the Parsons deal—making his presence felt on the field. Clark wrapped up the game with two solo tackles and three assists in his debut.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys are set to seek their first win of the season, hosting the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium for their home opener on September 14th.
