Jerry Seinfeld heckled by anti-Israel protester during comedy show: ‘Jew-haters spice up the show’

Jerry Seinfeld’s latest stand-up gig was interrupted by anti-Israel protesters Saturday night.

During Seinfeld’s performance in Virginia, pro-Palestinian protesters stood up and shouted insults at the “Seinfeld” creator, calling him a “genocide supporter.”

“Save the children of Gaza! Stop spending American tax dollars on genocide!” protesters shouted.

The audience immediately began booing the heckler and demanding that he “shut up and get out.”

“You all should be ashamed of yourselves! You all should be ashamed of yourselves!” the protester continued to shout to the audience.

Seinfeld was heard commenting, “This is fun. I like this. I think your message really resonates with the audience. People seem to be on your side.”

“How can you support genocide!” the protester replied.

“I love it when Jew haters fuel the show,” Seinfeld joked.

Additional video from the night showed an audience member starting a fight with a protester and eventually grabbing him in a headlock. Security guards came and then chased the protesters out of the room.

The crowd was heard shouting “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” when the protesters left.

TMZ reported About eight protesters were present throughout the night, but they were all later escorted out by security. Seinfeld told the audience not to boo and supported their right to protest, witnesses said.

In a statement after the event, show producer Seven Venues said: “We are deeply disappointed that a group of protesters disrupted Jerry Seinfeld’s sold-out performance tonight at Chrysler Hall. We are firmly committed to eliminating anyone who disrupts the performance.” And we continue to protect our patrons’ freedom to enjoy the artists of their choice without interruption. ”

Seinfeld also faced jeers during his commencement speech at Duke University earlier this month. Views from the ceremony showed several students chanting “Liberate Palestine” and dozens of people walking out just as he was introduced.

Mr. Seinfeld has faced public backlash for his public support for Israel, which is waging war against Gaza following the deadly Oct. 7 attack. Two days after the attack, he posted on his own Instagram account: “I stand with Israel.”

“I lived and worked on a kibbutz in Israel when I was 16 years old and have loved my Jewish homeland ever since,” he wrote in the caption. “These attacks and atrocities break my heart. But we are also a very strong people in heart and spirit.”
