This should serve as a reminder of how difficult a job it is to be the general manager of a football team. Joe Douglas was fired as Jets GM on Nov. 19, two days after the most recent on-field disaster, a 28-27 loss to the Colts at MetLife Stadium.
Douglas' departure was hardly mourned by the Jets public, in fact, it seemed inevitable after coach Robert Saleh was unceremoniously fired five weeks later. In some cases, the fate of the GM can spark quite a debate. Because there's a lot of gray area unless you're the guy who leaves that job completely to Gettleman.
That seemed unlikely for Douglas, who was hired because of the deep winning pedigree he learned in Philadelphia, but he never quite coped at Florham Park, 161 miles to the northeast.
This Sunday was supposed to be an interesting interconference game for the Jets. The Seahawks come to MetLife with kickoff at 1 p.m. We all know how much West Coast teams enjoy games that start when their bodies claim 10 minutes. morning.
