Jets’ Aaron Rodgers shreds politics as an ‘absolute sham’

Aaron Rodgers endorsed independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a possible vice presidential candidate when the 2024 presidential election cycle began earlier this year.

But the New York Jets quarterback dismissed the political system as a “sham” during a podcast interview in Lake Tahoe earlier this month, where Rodgers was competing in the American Century Championship, one of the top celebrity golf tournaments in the country.

Barstool Sports “Please excuse my opinion.” A PFT commentator quipped about Rogers’ golfing prowess, saying he saw his shots go way to the right, “like his politics,” and Rogers smiled as he recalled all the times people tried to “cancel” him.

“Politics, as I’ve said from the beginning, is a total sham. All we’ve seen, whether it’s what they did to Bernie Sanders in 2016, or what we saw with[John]Podesta’s emails, or the fact that nothing actually changes, is what they do, and life hasn’t actually gotten better for any of us, whether we’re Republicans or Democrats. And we’re still in a goddamn two-party system. We can’t get Bobby in or anybody else in.”

Rogers also criticized the fact that third-party candidates were not allowed on the election ballot.

Kennedy failed to meet the requirement to debate President Biden and former President Trump, a requirement that has influenced leading Democratic politicians and donors to urge Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race.

“Bobby hasn’t even had a chance to debate. When you see how ridiculous it is that a third-party candidate is on the ballot in 50 states, you know this is a total sham,” Rogers said. “Some states require a certain color. Other states require a certain person. Some states require a certain number of votes. It’s a total joke.”

Rogers had been floated as a possible running mate for Kennedy before he ultimately chose Nicole Shanahan.

How close was Rogers to being nominated as vice presidential candidate?
