On Wednesday, Haason Reddick put on a Jets uniform for the first time.
Well, let's see if he wears it Sunday in New England.
The Jets weren't able to practice at all on Wednesday due to a lot of injuries, but Redick was able to be seen doing position drills and walk-throughs.
He is scheduled to practice at full speed on Thursday, and the Jets will see if he is fit enough for Sunday's game against the Patriots after a lengthy suspension.
“We expect him to play,” Jeff's interim coach, Jeff Ulbrich, said. “He's an experienced player. In terms of the schematic stuff he has to catch up on, he played in a similar defense to us. I don't think it's going to be a big struggle for him. Now he's physically I'm just checking to see what the situation is.”
Reddick agreed to be released from hold Sunday and reported for work Monday.
He has already missed seven games.
Ulbrich said his conversation with Reddick was “great.”
“When he got here, I immediately tried to alleviate that feeling of someone looking at you sideways,” Ulbrich said. “The defense embraced him. The team embraced him. We're excited to have him integrated into our operation. He's excited to get started. It's exciting for all of us. It’s time.”
Ulbrich said the Jets will look at Redick's status over the next few days before making a decision Sunday.
“If he's ready, we're going to take action,” Ulbrich said. “Obviously, we need him. He's a huge contributor to our defensive success. Everything he's told me, he's been conditioning, not just conditioning; I mean he's been working. He's been doing football-related things. I'm looking forward to seeing where he's at.”
QB Aaron Rodgers had a new injury on Wednesday's injury report.
He currently has a knee injury as well as a hamstring injury.
He is no longer listed as suffering from an ankle injury.
Rodgers downplayed the injury.
Rodgers said he doesn't think the injury has affected his pitching.
“I feel good on game day,” Rodgers said. “My ankle has responded very well. However, sometimes my knee swells, but I don't think that will be a problem.”
The Jets have a long list of injuries.
The Jets only had a walk-through on Wednesday. One of the reasons was that they were too strong.
It looks like they'll be returning their starting cornerback, but their starting safety could be down, and injuries are mounting at guard.
The following players did not practice: S Tony Adams (hamstring), S Ashtyn Davis (concussion), DT Leki Fotu (knee), WR Allen Lazard (chest), RG Aliyah Berra-Tucker. (ankle).
CB Michael Carter II (back), DE Will McDonald (shoulder), RT Morgan Moses (knee), Rodgers (knee, hamstring), LT Tyron Smith (rest day), LB Quincy Williams (neck) players were restricted.
Cornerback DJ Reed practiced fully after missing last week's game with a groin injury.
The Jets placed running back Xavier Newman on injured reserve after sustaining a severe neck injury in Sunday's loss. The team added safety Jalen Mills to the active roster.
They opened up a 21-day practice period for tight end Kenny Yeboah to return from IR.
They signed OL Alec Lindstrom to the practice squad.
