Jets believe it’s still possible Haason Reddick could play Week 1

At least in theory, Haason Reddick could be available for Week 1 against the Jets.

The outside linebacker missed all of training camp due to a holdout that culminated a few weeks ago with a trade request.

Redick appears to still be in a stalled negotiation with the Jets, but coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday there is still a path for Redick to play in “Monday Night Football” against the 49ers in just under two weeks.

“It depends, but we're assuming he's in great shape,” Saleh said. “He's a veteran. He knows what it takes to be prepared. He's had success with multiple teams, multiple schemes, multiple coaching staffs, so he should know what he needs to do heading into Week 1. There's still plenty of time.”

So Redick's personal coach posted a training video on Monday showing him going through pass-rush agility drills.

But Saleh said he has not tried to broker a settlement between Redick and the Jets, and has no intention of doing so.

“I've just been focusing on the people here,” Saleh said, sticking to the company line.

Redick has a locker with his name and jersey number 7 on it, but he hasn't been to the team facility since April 1, when he underwent his physical.

The holdout reached its 36th day on Tuesday, the training camp fine is worth $1.8 million and Redick is in negotiations to get a new contract.

He is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract and will receive a nonguaranteed base salary of $14.25 million this season.

Redick wants to boost those numbers to compete with the league's highest-paid edge rushers, something the Jets knew when they traded a conditional 2026 third-round pick to acquire him from the Eagles during the offseason.

The Jets traded defensive back/kick returner Brandon Codrington to the Bills in exchange for a late draft pick in the 2026 draft, according to multiple reports.

WR Mike Williams began practicing with the team on Tuesday as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.

Saleh said fifth-round draft pick Jordan Travis' rehabilitation will be “a little longer than expected” and that the Jets will reevaluate his availability later in the season.

The former Florida State quarterback broke his foot late last season and will start this season on non-football injured reserve.
