Brady Cook Impresses in First Start for Jets

Brady Cook, in his debut as a starting quarterback for the New York Jets against the Jacksonville Jaguars, wasn’t necessarily expected to turn the team’s season around, but his performance in the first quarter definitely drew some attention. Cook orchestrated an eight-play, 65-yard drive that concluded with a touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell, narrowing the score gap to just seven points.

During the broadcast, viewers caught a glimpse of Cook’s parents celebrating in the stands at Everbank Stadium. This marked his first career touchdown pass, and he accomplished an impressive feat by completing six passes in a row before ultimately throwing an interception.

Prior to this game, Cook had seen playtime against the Miami Dolphins, where he finished 14 for 30 with 163 yards and two interceptions, contributing to a tough 34-10 loss.

Interestingly, 44-year-old Philip Rivers, now officially named the starter for the Colts, is set to play his first NFL game in almost five years.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn chose Cook to start after attempts with both Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor didn’t yield positive results throughout the season. Cook joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent and struggled early on. He was waived as training camp wrapped up but later made it back onto the practice squad. Throughout the season, he was moved between the main roster and practice squad several times prior to his game against the Dolphins.

Cook, just 24 and a former standout at the University of Missouri, ended his college career with impressive stats, totaling 9,251 passing yards and 50 touchdown passes.
