ORCHARD PARK — It was another flag day for the Jets.
In Sunday's 40-14 loss to the Bills, the Jets allowed 16 penalties.
This is his most since scoring 16 points against the Packers on December 23, 2018.
This is the third-most penalties in franchise history.
“It starts and ends with me,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “Obviously I have to do a better job of not letting that happen, but I have a better understanding of why it doesn't happen. You can't overcome that against a team that is doing well right now. It killed us and got us behind the sticks a lot of times and extended their offensive drives.”
The Jets led the NFL in penalties allowed this season with 131.
This isn't a new problem for the Jets, but it happened multiple times Sunday.
They were assessed five personal foul penalties.
Things got so bad that even quarterback Aaron Rodgers was given an unnecessary roughness penalty for pushing Christian Benford out of bounds after an interception.
“I don't think I pushed him that hard,” Rodgers said. “I was just following the play.”
There were some questionable calls, but even if you remove them, the Jets would still be facing double-digit penalties and giving the Bills help they didn't need.
“At the end of the day, [16] Penalties are unacceptable at any level of football,” tight end Tyler Conklin said. “That's why we're obviously not going to come here and do well.”
Cornerback Sauce Gardner suffered a hamstring injury and was questionable for the game against the Bills.
Gardner played, but his injury started to bother him again and he left in the first half.
Gardner said it's important to play because he knows the team will be different in 2025.
“This locker room is not going to be the same next year from a player and coach standpoint,” Gardner said. “As far as the players, it's a different thing, but the coaches that have coached me for three years may not be here next year. I don't even know what's going to happen. I just want to thank them, the organization, my teammates, the coaches. I was trying to do my best.”
Rodgers was sacked four times, giving him 568 career sacks, the most in NFL history.
Tom Brady held the mark with 565.
“I got Tom into it,” Rogers said.
WR Garrett Wilson had seven catches for 66 yards and one touchdown.
He had 1,053 receiving yards this season.

He is the first Jets player to have 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons and the 10th player in NFL history.
The last Jet to record 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons was George Sauer from 1966-68.
His 97 receptions this season are a career high and the second-most in Jets history behind Brandon Marshall's 109 in 2015.
