Jets fans burn Patriots jersey in wild tailgate scene before ‘TNF’

Jets fans were clearly in a pretty good mood heading into Thursday's game against the Patriots.

Some fans in the parking lot at MetLife Stadium even began burning a jersey bearing the No. 10 in a video posted to social media.

The video showed a Jets fan wearing a green hat and what appeared to be a chef's shirt with “JETS” written on the back, hyping up his fellow fans.

He led the group in a “Jets” chant before setting his jersey on fire to the delight of the crowd.

The New England jersey quickly bursts into flames and the individual leads a group of fans in another “Jets” chant as Led Zeppelin's “Immigrant Song” begins playing from a nearby speaker before the video ends.

It's unclear whether the jersey they burned belonged to Mac Jones, who currently plays for the Jaguars, or to Drake Maye, who was the Patriots' third overall pick in this year's draft.

If the jersey was in fact Meyer's jersey, incineration would have been a costly exercise for whoever purchased it.

A Maye jersey with the No. 10, similar to the one that was burned, is being sold on the Patriots' website for $129, while the same site is selling Jones' jersey for $38.99.

The Jets entered Thursday's game with a 1-1 record after their first two games of the season, including a home opener against the rival Patriots in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The game will mark the first time Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played at MetLife Stadium since last season's opener against the Bills.

The future Hall of Famer suffered a season-ending injury on the game's first offensive right, changing the trajectory of the Jets' season.

The match will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday night.
